The capital of Germany, a huge city with a lot to see. But Berlin is a city, it honestly doesn’t feel much different from going to Toronto, New York or any big metropolitan area. What really set’s Berlin apart from most major cities though, is this world history that is involved with Berlin.
This city was a central part of World War 2 and the Cold War, that is insane! There are many significant spots to see in Berlin such as the obvious Berlin Wall, Check Point Charlie and Mall of Berlin. Berlin is also large enough to spend a couple of days there and not get bored. Also, the architecture there is some of the most breathtaking you’ll see in all of Europe.
One thing that really opened my eyes and gained me a new respect for Germany is the Holocaust memorials. While they were literally some of the most depressing places I’ve ever visited in my life…It made me respect the country and the people that they don’t try to hide the fact that it happened or even try to sugar coat it.
Had this trip been more for partying and less sightseeing, Berlin may have been a more lively experience. But the experience of the world history will make you appreciate Berlin more than most cities.
