This is not the same Karen Gillan we all know and love from Guardians of the Galaxy, Jumanji and others! This is Karen Gillan doing a deep artful film where she is an absolute train wreck, and does she ever do it so well!
In her directorial debut, she plays someone who is struggling with the suicide of her best friend by becoming a complete train wreck with sex, drugs and booze. They show how her best friend was really the only person she was able to connect with. While she had family and other friends, he was essentially her soulmate. The back story of their friendship was touching and heartbreaking at the same time.
But this movie was boring for the most part and there are a lot of drawn out moments and uncomfortable scenes which are difficult to watch. I give this a 6/10
Good:
- Karen Gillan not her usual self
- Relationship between friends
- Characters made you feel for them
Bad:
- Some uncomfortable scenes
- A lot of it drawn out
